About We are a specialist cheddar cheese company based in the World Heritage site of Blaenafon, South Wales. Situated in the main High Street we produce everything from our premises 79 & 80 Broad Street, Blaenavon, NP49NF. All our cheeses are handmade by our family and are free from any artificial preservatives or colourings. They are all suitable for Vegetarians and are coloured in a bright wax coating to give a long natural shelf life of 5 months if they are stored correctly between +0 to +5 oC. Our famous Pwll Mawr cheddar is aged 300ft below ground at the bottom of the mine shaft at Big Pit Mining museum in the World Heritage site ½ a mile away. Once every 2 weeks Gerry does a cheese swap. He takes the cheeses to the Big Pit, ready for maturing and the miners bring up the batch which has been aging below ground for the past 2 weeks. Big Pit is open to the public and is free to visit. Parking is charged. We produce very distinctive cheddars, many are flavoured with local alcohols
